PT holds a M.Sc. in Physics and a Ph.D. in Experimental Pathology from University of Bologna. He has been: research fellow at (and continues to collaborate with) the Interdept. Center ‘L. Galvani’ for Biocomplexity, Dept. Experimental & Diagnostic Medicine, University of Bologna since 2003; visiting scientist at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, Boston (2005-2006); visiting scientist at CAS-MPG Partner Institute for Computational Biology, Shanghai (2012); in 2011 he joined IAC-CNR Institute for Computing Applications – Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche as faculty staff. PT has authored ~30 peer-reviewed research papers in the fields of multi-omic data integration, reconstruction, quantitative modelling and analysis of cellular signaling networks of the immune system, as well as of theoretical immunology. He is Associate Editor for Frontiers in Physiology, Systems Biology section, and Program Committee member of a number of international conferences in the field of Computational Biology and Systems Biology. He has served as co-PI and WP-leader in several EC-funded FP6 and FP7 projects. He has been appointed as professor for the 2016/17 Bioinformatics course at the Data Science Master degree at Roma La Sapienza University.
