Travelling Options
Malta’s national airline, AirMalta, operates flights to and from Malta on a daily basis from several different European countries.
Low-cost alternatives, such as Ryanair, are also available.
All flights land at the Malta International Airport; there are scheduled public transport buses (TD2; X1-X4) but direct transfers can also be arranged via the official airport shuttle service http://www.maltatransfer.com/
The main mode of public transport is by bus (tal-linja). There is an app available for iPhone and Android smartphones which provides real-time information on the bus service. Summer fares cost €2 for each journey lasting up to two hours and tickets can be bought on the bus. Travel cards are also available: https://www.publictransport.com.mt/en/bus-card-and-ticketing. All normal route buses terminate at the Valletta bus terminus; the venue is 10 minutes’ walk away. Buses might be late due to traffic so it is wise to leave a bit early.
For an original alternative, try the ferry service from Sliema or the Three Cities to Valletta. Fares are cheaper than for bus rides (€2.80 for a whole day return ticket) and you can avoid all the road traffic!
If renting a car, remember we drive on the left. Roads are rather congested especially in the morning and it might be very difficult to find parking in Valletta’s narrow streets. Parking is only allowed in white parking spaces; blue/green parking spaces are reserved for residents and parking here would incur a fine. CVA applies to Valletta centre – entering this area by car is subject to a fee of €0.82 per hour.
Lodging
The EPMA organizing team have suggested some hotels with available discounts when staying over during the conference period:

Outside Valletta, the best lodging options would be close to Sliema & St. Julian’s area. These are the most touristic and therefore best served by public transport.
Lunch in Valletta
During the allocated lunch breaks, feel free to wander a bit around the beautiful city of Valletta. Apart from its numerous fine dining venues, Valletta offers many possibilities for lunch – below are some of the most recommended:
